Aftercare for eyebrow permanent makeup
Proper aftercare is essential to achieve the best possible result. As a rule, two sessions are required for an optimal outcome. If you have any questions or concerns during the healing process, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Important notes on healing:
- The colour appears stronger and more sharply defined immediately after the treatment.
- Day 1–4: The colour appears darker.
- Day 4–7: Itching may occur, and small pigmented flakes of skin may come off. This happens in irregular patches and is completely normal.
- After the flakes have fallen off, the pigment may initially appear lighter. The final colour develops over the course of the 4-week healing period.
- After 2 weeks: The outer skin has healed and the true colour becomes visible.
- After 4 weeks: The deeper layers of skin are now fully healed as well.
Slight irregularities in colour distribution are normal and can be adjusted in the second session (from week 6).
Normal symptoms in the first 4 days:
- Mild swelling, redness and sensitivity
- Dry, flaky skin while the eyebrows heal
- Itching
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
- Clean the eyebrows once a day with moistened cotton pads and/or a mild cleanser.
- Apply a thin layer of the healing ointment from your kit 1–3 times a day using a cotton swab or clean hands. Use a new swab each time to avoid contamination.
- Use the cream sparingly—apply a thin layer several times a day; less is more. Let the eyebrows breathe.
- Gently brush the eyebrows with a clean brush when flakes come off on their own.
We recommend these products for good healing:
- Tattoo Med After Tattoo Cream (face and body care)
- La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+ (facial care)
- CeraVe Cleansing Lotion (gentle cleanser for dry skin)
- TattooMed Cleansing Gel (gentle cleanser for oily skin)
- La Roche-Posay Anthelios Shaka Fluid SPF 50 (sun protection)
WHAT YOU SHOULD AVOID:
- Do not pluck, scratch, rub, or touch the eyebrows to avoid uneven healing and infections.
- No makeup on the eyebrows for about 1 week (risk of infection!).
- No thick layer of cream—too much cream causes the skin to swell.
- Do not submerge the eyebrows in water for 1 week; a quick shower is fine.
- No cosmetic treatments for 5 days.
- No hair removal (waxing, electrolysis, laser) in the eyebrow area for 2 weeks.
- Do not expose the eyebrows to direct sunlight, tanning products, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, or a direct shower stream for 2 weeks.
- Do not use active skincare (acids, vitamin A and C, etc.) on or near the eyebrows for 2 weeks.
Long-term care:
- Use sunscreen (SPF 30 or 50), as sun exposure causes eyebrow pigmentation to fade faster.
- Information for you if you are planning a chemical peel, laser treatment, or an MRI: the pigments used contain iron oxides, titanium dioxide, and carbon. They are EU-certified and contain no heavy metals.
- Inform the blood donation service, as you may not be allowed to donate blood for 4 months after the treatment.
- Touch-up treatments are recommended every 12 months to maintain the freshness of the pigmentation. If you have oily skin, a touch-up may be needed sooner, as sebum causes the pigment to fade faster.
Infection prevention: Proper care of your eyebrows is essential to prevent infections during the healing process. Follow the instructions above carefully to protect your new eyebrows.
The treatment is performed under sterile conditions, all materials are single-use, and the treatment room is thoroughly cleaned after each session. If an infection occurs, it is usually due to insufficient aftercare. If you notice yellow discharge in the treated area, please contact your doctor immediately to start antibiotic treatment.
