Lip pigmentation

Lipblush or also called Watercolour Lips is a cosmetic tattoo of the lips. This super natural new lip pigmentation technique is designed to restore colour and definition and correct minor asymmetries of the lips.

You can choose a pigment colour that matches your natural lip colour, or you can opt for a slightly bolder colour that gives you a pop of colour without having to apply make-up to your lips.

Natural lip pigmentation in Berlin- Charlottenburg

Perfectly groomed lips, all day, every day- that's Lipblush. Lip pigmentation highlights your natural colour and accentuates your natural shape for the perfect pout.

This is modern permanent makeup, an unobtrusive, natural change that enhances your beauty, not conceals it. The name Lipblush or Aquarelle Lips comes from the fact that the healed result is more like a light lip colour, like that of tinted lip care, than a lipstick, but it is a normal lip pigmentation.

With the lipblush technique, pigment is implemented into the uppermost layer of the skin using a tattoo machine and a very fine needle, just like with classic lip pigmentation. The main difference lies in the minimal contour line, so that the transition to the lip surfaces is smooth for a particularly natural result. The prudishly light full shading of the lips by Pearl Tattoo Berlin looks very natural after healing and not as bold as a lipstick.

Melanin rich lips

Pearl Tattoo Berlin is one of the first permanent make-up studios in Germany to offer lip pigmentation to customers with melanin-rich lips. What used to be dismissed as impossible is now possible with the latest techniques and colour knowledge.

Melanin-rich lips are usually darker or cooler toned at the edges or completely. Due to the cool tint, melanin-rich lips require a different lip pigmentation technique to colour correct and neutralise the darkness of the lips. If your lips have a darker, cool undertone and you are aiming for a rosier tone than Lipblush, it usually takes more than one treatment.

In the first treatment, the cool undertone is neutralised with a warm tone. In the second treatment we can pigment with a pink tone, nude tones are not possible.

Dark lips

Pearl Tattoo Berlin is one of the first permanent make-up studios in Germany to offer lip pigmentation to clients with darker, melanin-rich lips. What used to be dismissed as impossible is now possible with the latest techniques and colour knowledge.

Melanin-rich lips are usually darker or cooler toned at the edges or completely. Treatment process

In a lip pigmentation at Pearl Tattoo Berlin we start with a detailed consultation, where the entire process is explained to you from the preliminary drawing, about the color selection to the healing process. We talk about your ideas and wishes and how best to implement them.

Pre-drawing & colour selection

When I do the preliminary drawing, I usually ask how you make up your lips on a daily basis. There is only one rule for lip pigmentation: you should not pigment more than 1-2 mm beyond the actual lip skin. You can correct slight asymmetries with lip pigmentation. Only when you are 100% satisfied with the preliminary drawing, pigmentation is applied.

Feel free to bring your favorite lipstick or reference pictures of healed (!) lip pigmentation. Together we will discuss your wishes and find the perfect shade for you.

Pigmentation

To hold the preliminary drawing, a fine outline is stitched, which will no longer be visible after healing. Afterwards the whole lip is shaded, this takes about 1.5 to 2 hours in total. Anaesthesia of the lip is possible.

After pigmentation, the lips will be swollen and the colour will be very intense.

Healing

Now it is up to you: Please refrain from much water contact and sun contact in the two weeks after pigmentation. Also, avoid sweating.

After about 3-4 days, the lip will peel. You can find more about Aftercare here:

Healed results

Lip pigmentation may require several treatments to achieve the desired result. After each treatment, the skin needs 6 weeks to heal completely. Generally speaking, after the healing process, the colour fades by about 30% and sharp edges look less defined. You can read more about the healing process under Aftercare.

How long does the treatment take and does it hurt a lot?

For a lip treatment you should plan 2.5 hours, for the after-treatment 1.5 hours.

A soft and gentle pigmentation technique reduces pain to a minimum.

I have hyaluron in my lips - is that a problem?

No, not at all. Hyaluron and lip pigmentation go hand in hand.

There must be 6 weeks between the lip injections and the permanent makeup so that the swellings can heal and the pigmentation does not "dissolve" the new hyaluron.

Am I socially acceptable immediately afterwards?

The color is still very intense in the first few days - as if you were wearing lipstick. Swelling of the lips is to be expected, but usually goes away after 3-24 hours.

Is there a wide range of colours?

There is a very wide range of lip colors available, from nude shades to bold berry tones for all skin types. Bring your everyday lipstick or reference pictures of healed lip pigmentation to better show your ideas during the consultation at the beginning of the appointment.

Everyone has a different undertone on their lips, which limits expectations of what is realistic. Lip pigmentation can only add more colour, define and brighten the existing lip tissue.

If you are not sure which color to choose, I will recommend a color that best suits your skin type. If you want, you can choose a more intense or darker color for the touch-up.

Does the pigmentation fade evenly?

Yes, the colour will not heal patchily. It may happen that the inner area of the lip, which comes into contact with a lot of moisture, will lighten more quickly. If you tend to have dry lips, this can also affect the fading.
